Ever wondered what it's like to work on the frontline of scientific discovery? We're taking you on a journey behind the scenes of a cutting edge medical research laboratory, exploring how stem cells are used to find treatments for neurological disease, as well as showing you the highs and lows of what life is like as a research scientist.
At the Patani Stem Cell Lab at University College London (UCL) our goal is to discover treatments for Motor Neuron Disease (MND) using stem cells. MND is a debilitating condition that causes patients' muscles to waste away and eventually to die. Its effect on patients with the disease and on their carers is devastating but sadly there's no known cure for the condition.
This is an exciting time in the field of stem cell research and we're looking forward to sharing it with you, as well as hearing your thoughts on what we're doing in the hope that it can guide our own research.
